Wisconsin man arrested after driving wrong way through closed highway and hitting salt truck

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Dane County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a rollover crash on Highway 12/18 Friday night. A salt truck was called to the scene since the road was covered in black ice.

The highway was closed while the crash was being investigated, but around 10 p.m. a car driving the wrong way going east went past flares and a squad car with its lights illuminated. The car then stopped and backed up to talk to a Deputy that was flagging the driver down. After the deputy tried to talk to the driver through the window the driver sped off nearly hitting the deputy.

The driver was later identified as 24-year-old Andrew Lloyd of Sun Prairie.

The Deputy warned other first responders at the crash of the speeding car coming their way. Lloyd ended up hitting the plow truck head on.

The driver of the salt truck sustained non-life threatening injures and was taken to the hospital.

Lloyd was arrested for his second OWI and faces other charges.
