Wisconsin Lottery Week marks milestones in community contributions 🎟️
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Lottery is co-hosting its annual Lottery Week, celebrating five years of contributions to U.S. and Canadian communities in tandem with North American counterparts from July 17 - 21.
Lottery Week, a collaborative effort of lotteries in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, has generated over $28.6 billion in sales for beneficiary programs in 2022, according to the Multi State Lottery Association.
Wisconsin boasts some big reasons to celebrate, as the Wisconsin Lottery has made significant contributions to property tax relief, prize allocation and retailer compensation since its inception in 1988.
The 2022 Lottery and Gaming Credit towards Wisconsin property tax relief reached $319.8 million, accumulating to over $5.4 billion in property tax credits, $10.2 billion in prizes and $1.1 billion in retailer compensation.
The Wisconsin Lottery's social responsibility initiatives have been recognized by the World Lottery Association, which last year certified its responsible gaming program. The lottery, in partnership with the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling, also develops yearly advertising campaigns for responsible gaming and plans to expand the program further.
