Wisconsin Herd to honor Oshkosh all-stars by wearing throwback uniforms

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Herd will celebrate the two-time National Basketball League Champion Oshkosh All-Stars by wearing throwback-themed uniforms on Saturday, March 3.

The game-worn jerseys will be available for auction during the Herd’s home games at Menominee Nation Arena on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 and online at https://whauctions.afrogs.org. The online auction tips off at 9 a.m. on Friday and concludes at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 5. Proceeds will benefit five local Boys & Girls Clubs (Fond du Lac, Fox Valley, Menasha, Oshkosh and Tri-County).

“Oshkosh boasts a strong basketball tradition, serving as the home of the Oshkosh All-Stars, the Wisconsin Flyers and, now, the Wisconsin Herd,” said Herd president Steve Brandes. “We are excited to celebrate the 20-year legacy of the All-Stars with our fans on Saturday and raise funds for local Boys & Girls Clubs in our community.”

The All-Stars started as a barnstorming team in 1929. The team participated in the National Basketball League, a forerunner to the National Basketball Association, from 1937-1949. The All-Stars won the National Basketball League title in 1941 and 1942.
