WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin's health department is trying to contact people who may have been exposed to the measles from an out-of-state traveler earlier this month.

The exposure may have happened on Aug. 4 at two public places: the Pilot Travel Center on Milwaukee Road in Beloit between 11:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and the Flying J Travel Center in Roberts between 7:15 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Measles is a highly contagious disease -- DHS is asking people to watch for symptoms and check their vaccine status. They say symptoms generally start 10-21 days after exposure.

These exposures are not related to cases previously confirmed in Wisconsin. As of Aug. 19, nine cases of measles have been confirmed in the state.
