Winter Storm Warning is in Effect

After looking over the computer models from this morning into the afternoon, we feel there is some decent run to run consistency, for accumulating snowfall totals across the entire area.

The snow will likely start after 9 pm across our viewing area.  There is a lot of dry air to overcome, so even though you might be seeing snow on the radar early this evening, it's the radar detecting the snow aloft.

We expect the snow to start to fall after 9 pm tonight; however, the bulk of the accumulating snow will occur between midnight and Noon Saturday.  The greatest accumulation will occur along the border of Illinois and Wisconsin. There is an opportunity for some lake enhanced snow to occur Saturday morning between Racine and Kenosha counties.  If that develops there could be some higher totals along the lakefront.

We have increased totals along 94 between 4 and 7 inches with lower totals to the north.

The cold really starts to move in throughout Saturday afternoon. Wind chill values will fall to the teens by late day and single digits during the night and into Sunday morning.
