Wine & Watercolors auction raises hundreds for Alzheimer's Association

BROOKFIELD -- The Wine & Watercolors Art Auction and Mixer Thursday at Silverado – Brookfield memory care community was a success in raising hundreds of dollars for Alzheimer's research.

Residents at Silverado-Brookfield and Silverado–Oak Village memory care communities created paintings that were auctioned to the public to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin.

More than 60 people attended the event and 37 paintings were sold, generating $1,560.00 for the Alzheimer’s Association. 

The event represents a practice central to Silverado’s care, which is enriching lives of those with dementia by helping them to experience the fulfillment of achievement, giving and engagement.

“The auction and art programs bring joy and a feeling of connection to our residents, as well as showing that people with dementia can lead meaningful lives,” says Silverado-Brookfield Administrator Pam Preston. “This is a wonderful celebration of their abilities, not limitations. It helps create community awareness and hope, and of course benefits a cause that is close to all of our hearts.”
