Steve Wojciechowski's Marquette teams have been gaining traction the last two seasons, but the second-year coach might have his proudest moment yet at Marquette with Tuesday's 65-64 road win at eighth-ranked Providence.
Luke Fischer's dunk with a little more than a minute to play made it a one point game, and then Duane Wilson drove and laid in the go-ahead bucket with about 30 seconds to play. Providence set up one last play in search of a game-winner, but Henry Ellenson blocked Kris Dunn's shot and Marquette's players ran onto the Dunkin Donuts center court excitedly.
The triumph is Marquette's first win since conference play started.
