Williams Bay 'Do Not Drink' order lifted, DNR confirms water quality safe for residents

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources found high levels of nitrites in the water, deeming it unsafe, and the public was advised not to drink the tap water or use it for things like cooking or brushing teeth.
After several days of testing and mitigation efforts, the DNR confirms water quality has returned to safe levels.
Water samples for nitrite testing were collected at nine locations throughout the village and submitted to a lab Thursday. On Friday morning, the results were received, with all nine sample results below the maximum contaminant level.
The village says moving forward, the DNR is reviewing a plan for continuing to monitor the water system.
