WHS giving 'lots of TLC' to malnourished dog found in Racine

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A malnourished dog that was found by police roaming in Racine, is now being cared for at the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS).

The dog was picked up by a Caledonia police officer on Saturday, March 2, near Northwestern Avenue and Rapids Drive in the city of Racine. He was not microchipped nor wearing a collar.

Now named, "Hemlock," the dog was taken to the Wisconsin Humane Society Racine Campus and is expected to become available for adoption in a few weeks.

HAWS says, Hemlock came in at about 29 lbs. and should be much closer to 50, so he is on a slow re-feeding plan to regain his strength.

Anyone with information about the dog is urged to contact the humane society.

"He's a lovely guy and our staff are giving him lots of TLC," said Angela Speed, VP of marketing and communications for WHS.
