What a finish! Whitewater wins D-3 National Title in final second

SALEM, VA - The most exciting finish in March Madness didn't happen to any team in the field of 64. It happened to UW-Whitewater in the Division III National Championship Game Saturday in Salem, Va.


After Michael Mayer's tip-in gave Williams College a one point lead with :04 to play, it appeared the Warhawks back had been broken. But Quardell Young quickly got the ball up the court, drove to the basket, hit a shot and picked up a foul with less than a second to play, sending UW-W to its second national title in three seasons, 75-73.


UW-Whitewater finished the season 29-4. They're the only NCAA school in any division to win the national football and basketball (women's or men's) national title in the same year twice (2012 and 2014).
