MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A section of a busy Milwaukee freeway under construction for the past several months will be completely closed this weekend.
From 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, westbound 894 will be closed between the Mitchell and Hale interchanges.
Drivers are encouraged to use other regional routes, such as I-43 and I-94 to get around the closures.
"So, the best detour routes would be to use the rest of our freeway system like I-43 and 94, that'll get you into Milwaukee and get around these closures. and Layton Avenue is another great detour for the people who need to get to the 894 area," said Eric Hanson, construction project manager.
Eastbound traffic will remain open. Crews will work on that stretch next weekend.
The construction is a part of the ongoing resurfacing project.
