WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire in the ceiling on the second floor led the West Bend School District to close West Bend High School for all students and staff Wednesday, Nov. 4, the district said in a statement.

The fire department was reportedly at the school Thursday morning.

The district says it is closing the building as a precaution while it checks for damage and evaluates building systems, including mechanical and HVAC equipment, before deciding next steps. The statement, signed by Principal Jenn Potter and Superintendent Jen Wimmer, says the district will provide more updates as it learns more.
