West Allis Man Dies after Driving Wrong Way on I-94

At 11:40 PM on Wednesday, July 13 a crash was reported between a small SUV and a dump truck on I-94 west in Jefferson County near Johnson Creek. The SUV had been traveling the wrong way on the interstate when it entered a construction zone and hit the dump truck head on.

When troopers arrived, both vehicles were on fire and the driver of the SUV, identified as Andrew Tippett of West Allis, was trapped in his vehicle. Fire and EMS arrived and were able to extinguish the fire and extricate Tippett from his vehicle. Tippett was then transported via Flight For Life to Froedtert hospital with life threatening injuries. He died from his injuries on Friday, July 22.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor. The accident is still under investigation and enforcement action is pending.
