MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- I've decided to make my monthly "Weather Whys" segments out of this world -- quite literally. I've enlisted the help of Bob Bonadurer from the MPM Daniel M. Soref Planetarium. Bob's the director and has wonderful insight into fun phenomena along with sky and stellar positioning. For October, the one big feature to look forward to is the partial solar eclipse happening in the late morning/early afternoon hours of Oct. 14.
Forty-percent of the sun will be eclipsed by the moon. We just need the forecast to cooperate (fingers crossed!) The Milwaukee Public Museum will offer telescopes and special glasses to wear to participate safely in the event.
I should also mention Bob publishes a monthly newsletter I highly recommend for viewers to read. But to do so, you have to email him at [email protected] to subscribe to "The Starry Messenger."
