Milwaukee (CBS 58) --- St. James' Episcopal Church located in downtown Milwaukee will soon switch to a wedding venue.

The last public worship at the church will be October 1st. The deal with the wedding venue will close on November 8th.

The church was built in 1867.

The church's pastor, Father John, told CBS 58 that "we wish it didn't happen." But ultimately, running the church was too expensive. The church was paying $28,000 a year just in insurance. An additional $10,000 a year also went towards helping the poor.

The church will now become a wedding venue with a restaurant and a hall. The venue is expected to open in 2019.

It's located at 833 W. Wisconsin Avenue.
