The Milwaukee Armed Services Committee is preparing for armed services week.
On Thursday, the 128th Air Refueling Wing invited CBS 58 to come along on one of their missions. The crew made up of a pilot, co-pilot and a boom operator gathered inside a KC-135, a fueling aircraft.
"On a typical day we do three flights a day, four days a week to keep up with our training." said Elvis Alvarado.
A boom operator lies on their stomach, looks out the window and works to fuel aircraft like F-16s and B-1s while in flight.
The crew flew over the Sheboygan and Steven Point areas and delivered fuel to about 12 aircraft.
Next week, the services committee is having events like the Big Breakfast on Monday at the War Memorial and the Big Civic Dinner Dance on Thursday. These events were planned to help celebrate the men and women who serve our community.
"We appreciate being apart of the Milwaukee community and we take a lot of pride flying Wisconsin tails all over the world," said Jenna Lenski, Second Lieutenant.
