GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Green Bay Packers fans have mixed opinions on Aaron Rodgers reportedly wanting off the Packers.
Some say the team shouldn’t cave to trade demands.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’d bench him," Fan Kip Carter said. "We own his contract, so let him retire on the bench.”
Season ticket holder Brian Haworth said it might be in the teams best interest to let him go.
“Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback, but if he wants to leave, let him leave," said Brian Haworth, another fan. "We can get another one.”
“If he comes back to green bay and he has this defeatist attitude in his mind, he’ll tear Green Bay’s whole team right to the ground because he doesn’t care anymore,” said Mike Loch, Packers fan.
Regardless of his opinion on the team, Lenny’s Tap Owner Marty Leonard said a Rodgers'-less Packers would probably be worse and would drive less traffic to businesses like his.
“If they don’t make the playoffs, I think that they’re probably going to be less people out watching the game. Finding other things to do,” Leonard said.
This comes on the heels of a difficult time for those businesses with the pandemic.
“COVID where you can’t go watch the game. Now you can watch the game, and there will be disgruntled packers on it,” Leonard said.
