MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A program designed to teach young boys work ethic and skills is starting its fifth season.
We Got This kicked off its summer season at the Community Garden near 9th and Ring.
The Garden was started by Andre Lee Ellis to help his neighbor's 11-year-old son stay out of trouble.
Now, the program has expanded to five different gardens giving teenagers something positive to do in the community.
"Giving them $20 for four hours of work on a Saturday, he's changed kids from a .0 GPA to a 3.0 GPA," said State Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee). "It's amazing than an orchard is going across the street and he's teaching young men to be arborists is amazing."
Work officially gets underway at the Garden on Saturday. All food grown in the Garden stays in the neighborhood.
