'We Got This' event distributes more than 1,000 boxes of food for those in need
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Acts of generosity can go a long way especially during the coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Milwaukee citizens from different communities came together to help hand out food to those in need.
Volunteers helped unload a semi trailer filled with more than 1,000 boxes of food near 9th and Ring, but organizers want people to take away more than just food from the event.
"I just wish we could just tell people that love is the key," said Andre Lee Ellis, co-founder of 'We Got This' program. "Again another small word that goes so much further. Love is the key and if we could only teach people to love and appreciate each other, and just because somebody doesn't have as much as you, doesn't make you better. It only makes you have as much but things can change quickly and the pandemic taught us that."
"We Got This" is a program based out of Milwaukee. It started as a crew of young boys cleaning up their neighborhood and learning about gardening.
