MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you want to get the word out about digging, who better to turn to than a dog!

Meet Idaleen, the new 'Ambassadog' for We Energies.

The 16-month-old German Sheperd from Hartford is the new poster-dog for the company's social media campaign to remind everyone to call 811 before you dig.

We Energies started the safe digging Ambassadog program 10 years ago.

"It's an easy way for us to spread a very important message. Everybody loves to see dog pictures, so we asked our customers to submit pictures of their dogs digging. Then it goes to a final vote and Idaleen came out on top. So, she's going to spend the next year reminding customers to call 811 at least three days before they dig," said Alison Trouy with We Energies.

If you're doing any work that requires digging, whether its putting on a fence, or building a garden, it can be dangerous if you don't know where underground utilities are.

That's why it's important to listen to Idaleen, and call before you dig, or visit the Diggers Hotline website.
