WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is in custody after Waukesha Police say he was threatening people with a gun while looking for someone he had been fighting with earlier in the night.
Waukesha Police say officers responded to the area of E. Main Street and White Rock Avenue around 7:00 p.m. Sunday for a report of a fight. Later, officers learned the suspect who had been in the fight was now on Main Street with an "assault rifle" threatening neighbors looking for the other person he had been fighting with.
Officers were able to secure the area and with the help fo the Waukesha Police Department's SWAT team and Waukesha County Sheriff's Department K9 unit, the suspect was arrested around 1:00 a.m. on October 8.
Police say the City of Milwaukee Police Department's Firearm Recovery K9 unit was used during an early morning search to find the firearm used in the crime. After searching for several hours, the firearm was found in a nearby backyard.
Waukesha Police say they are not naming the suspect as the investigation is still open and active. Police say charges will be referred to the District Attorney's Office.
