WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha Police Department is currently investigating three separate complaints where two suspicious men are posing as Waukesha Water Utility workers requesting permission to enter a person’s home to inspect basement water pipes.
The three complaints were reported to have occurred on Sunday, January 28 between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the northwest part of Waukesha. In two cases the suspects were not allowed inside, but in one case the men stole several items.
In the scam, one person comes to the door while someone else stays in the car. Once they are let inside the criminals look out for items to steal and the second person will sometimes come in while the homeowner is down in the basement to take other items.
Waukesha Police are looking for anyone else who may have had similar incidents to contact them at 542-3812.
