WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities say two women were arrested in connection to a shooting at a Waukesha motel Monday evening, Oct. 17.

Officers responded to the Extended Stay motel shortly after 7:30 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots.

Police determined that a man from Texas was working in the area and a female acquaintance of his from Mississippi -- who was later identified as the victim -- was staying with him while he worked.

Officials say another woman, who is an acquaintance of the man, traveled to Waukesha from Texas with her four children to visit him. Police say upon her arrival, a physical altercation ensued, and a gun was dropped to the ground during the fight. The woman from Texas fired one round from the handgun, striking the woman from Mississippi in the leg.

The suspect who fired the handgun was arrested a short time later after leaving the scene. Another female was also arrested.

Police identified the suspects as 45-year-old Sharhonda Ford and 21-year-old Aleyah Hall.

Police say an initial responding officer applied a tourniquet to the victim until she was able to receive treatment from the Waukesha Fire Department.

No other officers or citizens were injured in the incident.

Preliminary hearings are set for Tuesday afternoon.
