Waukesha fire crews battle flames from packing material

CBS 58

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The City of Waukesha Fire Department responded to the area of Pearl St. and Midland Ave. for a smoke investigation turned fire.

A passenger by driving through the area called 911 after seeing a large amount of smoke coming from a building. Fire crews arrived three minutes later and found a large collection of stored materials on fire behind a building on Pearl St.

Crews fought the fire and brought it under control within 25 minutes.

The packed material and the extreme heat made the conditions challenging, according to a press release by the fire department.

There have been no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire took place in an industrial area with low traffic volume. The Waukesha Fire Department thanks the caller who reported it in and highlights the importance of 'if you see something, say something.'
