The Christmas holiday was cold!! Wind chills in the -30s and -40s, wind gusts to 50 mph, over 70 hours below-zero wind chills, etc. But now many people are heading back home after traveling and back to work and the temperatures are warming. Tuesday is still chilly with highs reaching the middle to upper 20s with wind chills closer to 10*. But notice that Tuesday night the temperatures don't drop as warmer air starts to roll in.
After Tuesday's highs in the 20s we stay in the 40s the rest of the week. Thursday and Friday look to be the warmest but the 40s likely stick around.
The latest Temperature Outlook for the start of January shows a 70-80% chance for above-average temperatures across Wisconsin meaning the 40s likely last.
Even though temperatures will be warming, watch the wind! Gusts will reach close to 30 mph Tuesday and Wednesday and stay a bit breezy on Thursday.
