Wanted Kenosha man hiding in attic arrested following SWAT response
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha police say a domestic violence suspect was taken into custody Monday evening, Jan. 16 following a pursuit and negotiation.
Just after 4:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a suspect wanted for felony charges. Officials say the suspect fled the stop in his vehicle and police pursued until learning a child was inside the suspect vehicle.
The pursuit was then terminated, and officers learned of the suspect's likely destination. They determined the suspect fled into the suspected home after handing the child off to a neighbor.
After confirming the child was safe, police say SWAT and negotiators were activated.
The suspect was found to be hiding under insulation in the attic of the residence.
Negotiators successfully arranged a peaceful surrender, and the 40-year-old Kenosha man was taken into custody.
An investigation is ongoing.
Police say multiple felony charges will be referred to the Kenosha County district attorney.
