Volunteers start work on Kayla's Playground pre-build

Dozens of volunteers braved the hot and humid weather for a good cause.  They started the pre-build on Kayla's Playground in Franklin.  The playground has been an on-going effort by Kayla Runte's mother - Shelly Runte.  Kayla died after a long battle with cerebral palsy a few years ago.  She inspired many people to create a place where all children can play together no matter their level of physical ability.  It's a tribute to Kayla and her fight in many ways.

\"It's surreal. They're touched by Kayla's story,\" Shelly Runte said.  \"They want to come out and they want to be part of something bigger.  Part of their community. We've said that all we ask is for four hours of your time and it might change your life. It may be the experience of a lifetime that you take away and you can bring your family back and say you know what I put that post in.\"
