Milwaukee Police Department honors fallen Officer Matthew Rittner with virtual candlelit vigil, video

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department shared a video on social media Friday, paying tribute to fallen Milwaukee Officer Matthew Rittner.

The post says while they are unable to honor Rittner in Washington D.C. as planned for National Police Week, the department continues to celebrate him in their hearts.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A virtual candlelit vigil took place Wednesday night, honoring police officers killed in the line of duty.

Milwaukee Police Officer Matthew Rittner was one of the names read.

Rittner was shot and killed while serving a search warrant on the city's south side in February 2019.

His name was added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial wall earlier this year.
