GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An alleged shoplifting incident caught on camera is now going viral.
Witnesses say the incident happened at Southridge Mall on December 23rd. The man posted the video the next day and says it has been shared over a thousand times.
The video shows two people following a woman holding a child in the parking lot. Southridge Mall has confirmed that one of those people is a Kohl's Loss Prevention employee. They were holding a shoe box and a pair of shoes as they provided a description of the woman over a two-way radio. They follow the woman until she gets into a car and drives away just as police are pulling up.
"She peeled out this way and Greendale Police followed her that way. There was no way that she had time to properly strap down that child that she was carrying into the car as she was running away from police and from the mall," said Zach Zimmerman, a witness.
It's unclear what the woman took and Greendale Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
CBS 58 also reached out to Kohl's for information regarding their loss prevention policy and procedures when encountering shoplifters. An immediate reply was not available.
