MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As National Donate Life Month pushes on, Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin is continuing to raise awareness for organ donation.
Their efforts continue Friday with the Light for Life event.
Along the lakefront at Milwaukee Sail Loft, Versiti has hosted the mobile bus drive throughout the day for those interested in donating blood.
Opportunities were also available for attendees to learn their blood types and register to become an organ and tissue donor.
"You donate one pint of blood and what we do is after we take it down to our lab and we separate the components into your red cells, platelets, and plasma, and that's how you save the lives of three people," said Chad Dunning, supervisor of donor services.
The events of the day will culminate with the lighting of the Hoan Bridge in a blue and green in recognition of National Blue and Green Day, as well as a lantern release.
Those events will kick off Friday night at 6:30 at Milwaukee Sail Loft.
