UWM: Vaccination Incentive Program offers students chance to win prizes

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee launched its Vaccination Incentive Program for students on Monday, Aug. 9.

The incentive program is called "It's Worth a Shot!" and encourages enrolled students to get vaccinated and share their proof of vaccination through an online form. Students who do so are then automatically entered to win one of more than 100 prizes, including MacBook Air laptops, tickets to Brewers and UWM men's basketball games, and restaurant gift cards. The weekly drawings begin Aug. 26.

Officials say it is a way to ensure that its three campuses reach higher levels of protection against the COVID-19 virus.

Students who get their first or second vaccine dose will also have a chance to win free UWM-branded merchandise at a series of UWM vaccination clinics on campus beginning Aug. 10.

Officials say students who receive their vaccinations and share proof help get the university closer to the 70% threshold for vaccination. Any UW campus that reaches that vaccination percentage is eligible for scholarships worth $7,000.
