MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Before computers and smart phones, hard cover world book encyclopedias filled bookshelves, often times collecting dust.  But with the advancement of technology comes a new way of documenting the past.

Recently work completed on the first phase of the Encyclopedia of Milwaukee, a comprehensive resource for answers to questions about the history of Wisconsin's largest city.

With nearly 700 entries, the online resource is meant to be a helpful tool for anyone interested in learning about Milwaukee and its colorful past.

On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Michael Schlesinger visited the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to highlight the campus-community partnership that’s promoting a digital catalogue of this community's history.
