UWM graduate, sister, killed in fiery crash

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Sept. 30, 2015) -- A University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee graduate, and her sister, die a horrible death. They are the victims of a wrong-way crash in Florida. Friends describe Brittany Musumeci, 23, as someone who was talented, full of energy and had a bright smile.

"She wore bright red lipstick, she was a very proud Cuban American, loved to dance," said Rebecca Ottman, a friend of Musumeci and works at the Peck School of the Arts.

Ottman says Brittany was a music major at UWM and moved to Florida just after graduating to be closer to her mother. The Florida Highway Patrol says a person, driving the wrong way on I-95 in Florida, crashed in to the car which caused it to burst in to flames with the sisters inside. Brittany's sister, Alexis, 24, was an active duty Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Ottman says their death leaves a huge void.

"She (Brittany) was awesome, I don't know, it was really easy to work with her. I'm older than her by a few years, but her maturity allowed us to really connect in a way that was meaningful for both of us," Ottman said.

Ottman is organizing a vigil for the girls Thursday night. It's set to start outside the Main Stage Theater lobby at 7:30. There is also a memorial fund set up, and you can learn more about that by going to http://gofundme.com/musumeci
