MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As National Hispanic Heritage Month continues in Milwaukee, UWM kicked off their first-ever Placita or Little Plaza event.
Students took lessons and danced to Latin music while eating traditional food.
The UWM sociocultural office partnered with the Roberto Hernandez Center to organize the event and plan on holding other similar Latinx focused events on campus through the end of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The University hopes the event can showcase the diversity of their school.
From 8:00 - 11:30 p.m. Friday, UWM will be hosting a dance showcase at the Alumni Fireside Lounge featuring traditional Latin dances.
