UWM cancels May commencement ceremonies, closes most student housing

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee announced Friday that its May commencement ceremony has been canceled, in line with Gov. Tony Evers' order banning mass gatherings.

The university also canceled its May 11 Honors Commencement.

Students were also informed that most would have to move out of residence halls, with the exception of those who do not have another home or can't return to their permanent home.

All Cambridge Commons and RiverView residents must move out by Friday, March 27. Other residence halls will follow.
