UW-Madison Accused of Strangling and Sexually Assaulting Student in Residence Hall

The UW-Madison Police Department responded to a sexual assault that occurred in a Residence Hall on Thursday night.

According to the UW-Madison Police Department incident report, the victim told UWPD officers, “the suspect strangled her, held her against her will, and sexually assaulted her in his room.”

The victim eventually broke free and called police.

According to the report, a bystander confronted the suspect who then reacted by breaking UW property in the room and attempted to punch the bystander. He was able to deflect the punch, escape the situation, and return to the victim to help her.

The university disclosed based on the severity of the allegations and potential impact on the campus community, the suspect is under emergency suspension from the institution.
