US surgeon general visits COVID-19 rapid testing site at UW Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- United States Surgeon General Jerome Adams was at UW Oshkosh Friday, Nov. 6, to tour a new COVID-19 rapid testing site.
It's part of a plan from the UW System to offer 15-minute coronavirus tests at each of their campuses.
Adams says he believes more people will want to take these tests due to the shorter wait time.
"We're only using about 30% of our testing capacity in this country right now," he said. "And we know many people are frustrated with what had been a long wait time for the PCR test in the past. People don't want to come to get a test if they don't think they're going to get the results for days or sometimes weeks."
UW-Milwaukee will also be offering rapid testing starting this Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The tests are free and open to the community.
