MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will be in Milwaukee Monday morning to kick off her 2019 Back-to-School tour.
While in Milwaukee, DeVos will host a roundtable at St. Marcus Lutheran School focused on the importance of education freedom with parents, students and educators.
According to the Department of Education, Wisconsin is the home of the first-ever education freedom program that allowed parents, no matter their income, to select the school that was the best fit for their child.
This is the third year a tour like this has taken place.
The Democratic Party of Wisconsin says it will protest DeVos’ visit because she is trying to privatize the public education system.
