Update: Zipper Merge in Place Along I-94 Until Fall 2016

Drivers need to plan for some extra time this morning. A Zipper Merge is now in effect as part of the Zoo Interchange Project along the I-94 eastbound corridor from Waukesha County. Drivers will lose a lane beginning at Sunny Slope Rd. through Hwy 100 until later this Fall.

This new Zipper Merge will no doubt cause issues for drivers who travel this route for the morning commute.

Drivers wishing to avoid this route can take advantage of a couple detours.  Both Bluemound Rd. and Greenfield Ave. are alternates that should help commuters avoid delays during the lane closure.  You can then rejoin the freeway at Hwy 100.

As with most lane closures and traffic patterns, it will take drivers awhile to get used to the new setup.  Be sure to plan on plenty of extra time.

The Zipper Merge is expected to remain in place until Fall 2016.
