MILWAUKEE -- At the request of Mayor Tom Barrett, the Common Council has now voted to expand the city's powerful pension board from 8 members to 11.
The Milwaukee Professional Firefighters Association asked Mayor Barrett to leave the city pension board alone.
Barrett proposed changes to the Finance and Personnel Committee last week.
The three new members would be appointed by Barrett and confirmed with a Common Council vote.
Some local leaders say it's a power move for Barrett, and accused Barrett of trying to pack the board to influence votes.
