UPDATE: 24-Year-Old Richfield Man Arrested in Pharmacy Crash
A 24-year-old Richfield man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run accident in the Aurora Health Care Pharmacy in Hubertus. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the man was detained around 4 AM this morning after he was found attempting to enter a unoccupied home in the 3100 block of Kettle Moraine Parkway in the Village of Richfield. Neighbors complained of a man yelling for help as he tried to enter a building he claimed was owned by his father. Deputies noticed the man had a minor injury to his head. When asked about it, the man said he had been in a fight, but refuse to identify his assailant and then refused treatment for the injury.
Around 6:30 AM the Sheriff’s office was notified of a pickup truck that had crashed through the front brick wall of the Aurora Health Care Pharmacy on Hwy 175 in Hubertus. When they arrived they found the truck inside the building, but when deputies and officers from the Germantown Police Department searched the vehicle and the business, the driver could not be found.
A records check found that the pickup truck belonged to the same 24-year-old man who had been questioned earlier in the morning. The pharmacy and the house in the Village of Richfield are about a half mile apart.
Further investigations found that around 2:45 AM, the man apparently turned onto the pharmacy’s access road by accident and “drove straight into the building.” According to the Sheriff’s report, the man fled on foot only to be located by deputies at the home on Kettle Moraine Parkway. Authorities believe that driver impairment may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
The man has been arrested, taken to the Washington County Jail and faces charges of Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing and Officer and Possession of Cocaine.
