TOWN OF CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) --Cedarburg is now mourning the loss of two young men.

Austin Riechers and Devin Krumbiegel, both 21-years-old from Cedarburg, died in a car crash Monday evening.

The accident happened near Western Avenue between Country Aire Drive and Grandville Road in Cedarburg.

“He had so many people that loved him so much,” Sierra Hillsman, Krumbiegel’s friend said.

Tuesday, friends gathered at the crash site after holding a bonfire last night in memory of both victims.

“He wasn’t supposed to be gone yet,” Hillsman said.

Hillsman said Riechers was one of the kindest people she ever met. Both young men were friends who shared a love of cars and riding.

“He [Krumbiegel] loved hunting, he loved cars,” Hillsman said. “All he wanted to do was just talk to people.”

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office says Riechers was driving and lost control of the car causing it to enter into a ditch hitting trees and a utility pole. Both men died from their injuries. The Sheriff’s Office says speed may have caused the crash.

“I urge everyone to slow down and take their time,” said Brandon Lukes, Krumbiegel’s stepbrother. “No matter where you have to go your destination is going to be there whether even if it’s going to take five minutes longer.”

A memorial ride for Devin and Austin is being planned for July 8. The riders will meet at 10 a.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings in West Allis with the ride beginning at 11:15 a.m. Organizers are asking $5 per rider and passenger to help raise money for the families.

A GoFundMe has also been set up to raise money for funeral and memorial expenses for Devin Krumbiegel.
