Two killed in overnight crash in Washington County

VILLAGE OF RICHFIELD -- Two people are dead following a single-car crash on Highway 164 in the Village of Richfield.

A 37-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both from Richfield, were driving northbound on Hwy 164 neat County Highway Q just after 2:30 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line.

The car hit a culvert, went airborne and struck a utility pole.

The man was ejected from the car and the woman was pinned inside. It's unclear who was driving.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 164 north of County Highway Q was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene. 

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash.

The cause remains under investigation.
