Two arrested for wrong-way driving in Milwaukee County over the weekend

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies were called to two wrong-way crashes over the weekend.

On Saturday evening around 6:50 p.m. Deputies got a report of a passed out driver on the I-794 south off ramp to Layton Avenue. As squads were responding they encountered a wrong-way driver going west in the east lanes of Layton. The car nearly missed the two squad cars before turning around and going the right way.

The 29-year-old driver from Menomonee Falls blew a Breathalyzer of 0.22 and was arrested.

Early Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m. Deputies got a call of a wrong way driver going north in the south lanes of I-41/US-45 near Bluemound. The car got off at Capitol Drive and went south on 124th Street. Deputies determined the car drove 4.6 miles in the wrong direction.

When deputies caught up with the driver he admitted to having a few beers at a bar in West Allis. The 57-year-old Wauwatosa man tested a 0.226 on the Breathalyzer.
