MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As the holiday season nears, the number of travelers jumping aboard airplanes is expected to soar.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport expects 12,000 travelers per day over the coming weeks around the holidays.
Before that happens, they want to remind passengers how to make their time at the airport smooth and seamless.
For starters, they recommend planning your luggage carefully.
"If you start with an empty bag, you can load the right things in there, because most people who leave a prohibited item in a bag and get stopped for that, it's simply because they didn't realize it was in their bag," said Tim Goodman, TSA's Wisconsin assistant federal security director.
Another note for travelers, anything concealed in your luggage will need to be checked by security and that includes wrapped presents. If you're taking a present for anyone on your journey, a gift bag is recommended.
