Planting trees to cushion the blow of more traffic at 47th and Lisbon. The tree planting is part of a larger program involving some 600 trees on vacant lots in Milwaukee.
Mayor Barrett, Alderman Russel Stamper, and Alderman Mike Murphy were on hand as about 70 trees were planted.
People who live in this area asked for aesthetic improvements to the city. The tree planting project is part of a larger grant awarded to the city from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service.
It's already made for 600 trees getting planted on Milwaukee vacant lots.
Alderman Stamper says there will be more longer term planning to keep parts of Milwaukee looking good. Residents say they're glad to hear that.
