Tree Planted in Honor of Beloved MPD Officer Mark Dudenhoefer

Alderman Bob Donovan joined family members, residents, and business owners during a special tree dedication ceremony on Monday, April 25th honoring the late Mark Dudenhoefer, who was a well-known Milwaukee police officer.

The planting is at a spot just inside Burnham Park in the 3200 block of W. Burnham St.

Mr. Dudenhoefer, who passed away at age 58 in September 2015, served as an officer with the Milwaukee Police Department for more than 29 years.

"As the longtime community liaison officer in District Six, Mark knew everyone and was well-loved by businesses and residents in the community he served," said Alderman Donovan. "He was blessed with an easygoing spirit and friendly demeanor that helped (him) make a sometimes very difficult job look easy."

Alderman Donovan credited Mr. Dudenhoefer with working closely with several non-profit organizations in efforts to improve safety and community involvement on the south side, and noted that Mark became a stakeholder in the area as he not only lived on the south side but also owned a business there as well.
