MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Many travelers out of Milwaukee found themselves stuck Monday, March 16.

According to FlightAware, there were more than 60 flights delayed at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport as of Monday night, and 105 cancellations.

From spring break travel to work trips and Saint Patrick's Day vacations, all eyes remained anxiously glued to the flight board deciding people's fate.

Elizabeth Wilks is just one of the hundreds of airport travelers having to adapt and adjust her plans.

"I tried to get to the airport really early, at like 5 a.m.," said Wilks. "Roads are unbearable. I had to call the travel agency and say, nope, this isn’t going to work.”

Wilks says she was supposed to fly out of Madison Monday morning, but then her flight was cancelled. That's when she decided to brave the roads to try and fly out of Milwaukee.

"That just got canceled right as I drove here from Madison, so I’m on the phone right now with my travel agency, on there for six hours last night to this morning, so we’ll see.”

Some of the stranded travelers include college students. One mother told CBS 58 her son is trying to get back to Emery University in Atlanta but was faced with a delay. The travel woes started last week with cancellations trying to get him home to Milwaukee.

"The journey started at the beginning of spring break when we had multiple delays coming into O'Hare, only for it to be cancelled, getting a flight to Cleveland and then taking a train home. So, today, we're still crossing our fingers that it's only delayed, not canceled, and hopefully we can get him back for his first class tomorrow," said Nicole Angresano, whose son is flying to Atlanta.

There have also been commuter delays. CBS 58 spoke to a man who was trying to take a Greyhound bus from Milwaukee back home to Toronto, Canada but it's been canceled for days.
