MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As part of National Correctional Officers Week, CBS 58 tagged along for a training session at the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Training Academy.
A new class of correctional officers were trained in the use of handcuffs.
People with the training session say there is a difference between the restraint tools deputies use compared to correctional officers.
"Our law enforcement agencies are going to use handcuffs out on the street to make arrests, to detain anyone. Our corrections officers are using restraints to make sure that they can escort throughout the facility safely to court or any appointments," said Captain Sarah Wronski with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
President Ronald Reagan implemented National Correctional Officers Week in 1984.
