Traffic video shows pedestrian almost hit by passing police chase
WCB - Waukesha NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- New traffic video from West Allis shows a person walking across Highway 100 near Oklahoma Avenue, just as a police chase was about to make a left turn.
The video shows a pedestrian crossing the highway when it looks, at least on video, that they were almost hit by the passing cars, but the pedestrian continues walking after the pursued car and police vehicles pass by.
According to West Allis officers, law enforcement was trying to make a traffic stop on a vehicle with license plates that didn't match and had an illegal exhaust, but the vehicle didn't stop and a chase started.
Eventually officers successfully used stop sticks in the area of Oklahoma and 76th, and the driver was taken into custody.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, was arrested for fleeing, second degree recklessly endangering safety and an OWI.
